All American Poker at Springbok: where a straight pays like a full house

All American Poker at Springbok starts paying at a pair of Jacks like its Jacks-based cousins, but its table has a flattened middle: a straight, a flush and a full house each pay 8 coins per coin, two pair pays 1 like a pair of Jacks, and a straight flush pays 1,000 coins at 5 coins.

How All American Poker plays at Springbok

One hand, one draw. After choosing a coin from R0.05 to R5.00 and up to 5 coins, you are dealt five cards, hold any you like, and the others are replaced once. The final five are paid against the table. There are no wild cards, and the smallest paying hand is a pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings or aces. Lobby reading · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)

What sets the game apart is not the rules but the way the pay table spreads its money. Most Jacks-based tables climb in steady steps from straight to flush to full house. This one puts all three on the same rung, lifts the straight flush far above where Jacks or Better keeps it, and pays for that partly by trimming two pair to the same award as a single high pair.

Wins can go into the Double or Nothing round, a one-card contest against the dealer's card: higher doubles the win, lower loses it. It sits outside the pay table and changes nothing about the hand itself.

The All American pay table side by side

Set against Springbok's other Jacks-based machines, the shape of this table is easy to see.

Compared with Jacks or Better, every hand from a straight up to the straight flush pays more here, and two pair is the one hand that pays less. Bonus Poker Deluxe also pays two pair at a single coin, but it spends the savings on four of a kind; All American spends them on straights, flushes and the straight flush.

The royal flush matches the other Jacks-based machines, 250 at 1 coin and 4,000 at 5, and no other row on this table rewards the fifth coin.

Springbok's version against the published tables

Wizard of Odds lists several All American tables that differ mainly on four of a kind and on the shared award for the three middle hands. Springbok's rows match the one it labels 30-8.

Wizard of Odds “30-8”308200
Wizard of Odds “40-7”407200

In all three published tables shown, three of a kind pays 3 and both two pair and a pair of Jacks or better pay 1. Return figures on the Wizard of Odds page are left out on purpose.

Springbok's 5-coin figures for All American Poker come from one coin size only; the note under the pay table says what that means.

Holding notes for All American Poker

Holding well only trims the house edge on each hand; it does not make the game pay over time. No published hold chart we found is built for this table, and Jacks or Better charts assume straights and flushes pay much less than they do here. Counting every possible draw against Springbok's rows points to these changes from the Jacks or Better order:

  • Four to a flush beats a high pair. With four cards of one suit and a pair of Jacks or better split across the hand, draw to the flush. A Jacks or Better chart says the opposite.
  • Four to an open-ended straight edges out a high pair too. Take a pair of Jacks with 8, 9 and 10: keeping one Jack with the 8, 9 and 10 comes out slightly ahead of keeping the pair. The margin is small, but it points the same way.
  • A low pair loses to four to an open-ended straight. In Jacks or Better the pair comes first; here the straight draw is clearly ahead.
  • Two pair: keep both pairs. The made hand pays only 1, but the one-card draw can fill a full house worth 8, and that beats keeping a single high pair.
  • Four to a straight flush already outranks a high pair on a Jacks or Better chart, and it gains more here: completing it pays 200 per coin, and many of the misses still land a straight or a flush.
  • Three of a kind: keep the three and draw two. Four of a kind pays 30 per coin.
  • Four to a royal hidden in a made flush: the answer turns on your coins. With all 5 coins in, the royal pays 4,000 coins and breaking the flush to draw at it comes out ahead. At 1 coin the royal pays only 250, and keeping the flush is usually the better hold. Straights pay the same as flushes here, so a made straight hiding four royal cards follows the same rule. The one exception at 1 coin is a 10, Jack, Queen and King of one suit: a 9 at the bottom end also completes a straight flush, and that extra out tips the count towards breaking the made hand.

A worked deal

Say the deal is the Jack of hearts, Jack of diamonds, 9, 5 and 3 of hearts. Habit from Jacks or Better says keep the Jacks. On this table the four hearts are the better hold: nine hearts remain among the 47 unseen cards, any one of them makes a flush worth 8 per coin, and two of the other cards are Jacks that still pair the Jack you kept. The pair of Jacks, by contrast, mostly ends the hand as a pair, which pays back only the stake.

The rest of the Jacks or Better order, from pat hands down to single high cards, is laid out step by step in the strategy basics guide.

What a session costs, and where to play it

Coin sizes run R0.05, R0.25, R0.50, R1.00 and R5.00, with up to 5 coins on each deal, exactly as on the rest of Springbok's video poker. The table below turns that into the cost of a single hand and of a hundred hands at full coins, which is a quicker run than it sounds on a machine that deals in seconds.

R1.00R1.00R5.00R500
R5.00R5.00R25.00R2,500

On this table a bigger share of the pay rides on straights and flushes, hands that arrive far more often than four of a kind, while two pair stops being much of a win at all. None of that changes the cost of a hand. The game screen, the help page and Springbok's own pages state no return figure for this machine, and Pay Table Room does not estimate one. Set the budget first and let the table decide nothing about it.

It plays in the mobile lobby, and its table comes from the mobile client. A computer browser opening Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild on 9 October 2026 got a Flash-retirement message that sends players to mobile; no desktop result is recorded for All American Poker itself. The tile's Try It! button opens a practice copy; it showed R1,000.00 of play money when the tables were read, and Springbok says that balance does not renew. How All American Poker compares

Questions players ask

Why do straights and flushes pay so much in All American Poker?

That is the game's design. Springbok's table puts a straight, a flush and a full house on the same award, 8 coins per coin, and takes some of it back on two pair, which pays the same as a pair of Jacks.

Should I break a high pair for a flush draw in All American Poker?

On Springbok's table, yes, when you hold four to a flush. Counting every possible draw puts the flush draw ahead of a pair of Jacks or better, because a flush pays 8 per coin here. That trims the house edge; it does not remove it.

Is All American Poker at Springbok a multi-hand game?

No. Like every video poker machine in Springbok's lobby on 9 October 2026, it deals a single hand; the lobby's hand selector offered only one.

Does All American Poker count toward Springbok bonus wagering?

No. The terms count slots, keno, bingo, scratch cards and a few named poker variants toward wagering; video poker is not one of them. Deposit without a bonus if All American Poker is what you plan to play.
