How Double Double Bonus Poker plays at Springbok

The basics match the rest of the Jacks-based room: natural cards, five dealt, one draw, and a pair of Jacks or better as the lowest win. Nothing is wild. Lobby reading · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)

What sets this machine apart is the kicker, the fifth card left over when the other four make a four of a kind. Most games ignore it. Here it decides between two rows in two places on the table:

  • Four Aces plus a 2, 3 or 4 pay 350 at 1 coin. Four Aces with a 5 through King pay 160.
  • Four 2s, 3s or 4s plus an Ace, 2, 3 or 4 pay 160. With any other fifth card they pay 80.
  • Four 5s through Kings pay 45 whatever the fifth card is.

Coin value runs from R0.05 to R5.00, with 1 to 5 coins per hand and one hand per deal. A paying hand can be staked again in Double or Nothing, where your chosen card has to top the dealer's to double the win, and a lower card ends the round with nothing.

Double Double Bonus Poker pay table: kickers against middle rows

Every extra coin on the kicker rows is paid for somewhere else. Set beside Springbok's Double Bonus Poker, the full house drops from 10 to 9, the flush from 7 to 6 and the straight from 5 to 4. Those hands land far more often than any quad, so the cut shows up in ordinary sessions.

The viewer flags one more detail. Four 2s, 3s or 4s with an Ace, 2, 3 or 4 beside them pay exactly what four Aces with a 5 through King beside them pay. That is how the screen shows it, and it means a quad of 3s can be worth as much as a quad of Aces.

Against published tables: Wizard of Odds lists a version it titles simply Double Double Bonus Poker whose rows match Springbok's screen. The more common version, the one its strategy page covers, pays more for four Aces with a low kicker and for four 5s through Kings. The pay-table guide explains why two machines with the same name can treat you differently.

Double Double Bonus strategy: Aces, kickers and two pair

A careful hold reduces the edge the house keeps on each hand; over a session it still keeps one. The notes below follow Wizard of Odds' published Double Double Bonus chart, calculated for the more common table. Springbok pays less on two of its quad rows, so the chart points the right way without being tuned to this exact screen.

  • Aces up: keep the Aces only. The chart ranks a pair of Aces above two pair, so from Aces and 8s you let the 8s go and draw three cards. Two pair pays just 1 here, while three fresh cards give the Aces a shot at the quad rows. Any other two pair is kept whole.
  • Dealt a quad with no kicker? Hold the four and draw. Wizard of Odds' line for any other four of a kind holds the four cards only. Drawing the fifth card cannot lose the quad, and the right card (a 2, 3 or 4 behind four Aces, an Ace through 4 behind four 2s, 3s or 4s) lifts it to the kicker row.
  • Three Aces rank above a made full house on the chart.
  • Three Aces are listed without a kicker. The chart has no line for keeping a 2, 3 or 4 beside three Aces. Holding one leaves a single draw instead of two, which halves your chance of the fourth Ace in return for the bigger award if it arrives.
  • A four-card flush outranks a low pair. Pairs of 2s through 10s sit below four to a flush and below the three-card royal draws.

For Springbok's exact rows, enter the table into the Wizard of Odds strategy maker; for how ranked hold lists work in general, start with strategy basics.

Stakes, budget and the gamble round

The kicker awards are the reason people pick this machine, and they are among the rarest hands on the table. Budget as if they will not come in any given session. A coin value that leaves room for several hundred hands at 5 coins suits this game better than a higher one that depends on a quad to keep going.

Double or Nothing is offered after a win. Putting a large one, such as a kicker quad, on a single card risks the whole amount on one call, so decide your rule for the gamble round before the session starts, not at the moment a big hand lands.

If it helps to put numbers on paper first, a gambling budget planner walks through setting a limit you can stick to. The machine plays in the mobile lobby: on 9 October 2026 the desktop lobby carried a notice that Flash is retired and that video poker continues on mobile. Try It! mode on the lobby tile lets you practise the kicker decisions with fun money first.

How Double Double Bonus Poker compares

Questions players ask

What is a kicker in Double Double Bonus Poker?

It is the odd card out when four of your five cards share a rank. On Springbok's machine it matters for four Aces (a 2, 3 or 4 lifts the pay) and for four 2s, 3s or 4s (an Ace, 2, 3 or 4 lifts the pay). For four 5s through Kings the fifth card makes no difference.

How much do four Aces with a kicker pay at Springbok?

Four Aces with a 2, 3 or 4 pay 350 coins on a 1-coin bet and 1,750 on 5 coins. Four Aces with any other fifth card pay 160 and 800.

Should I keep a kicker with three Aces?

The Wizard of Odds chart for the common Double Double Bonus table lists three Aces held on their own, with no kicker line. Keeping a kicker means drawing one card instead of two, which halves the chance of the fourth Ace. Springbok's table pays less for the kicker hand than that common version, which does not make the kicker more attractive.

Is Double Double Bonus Poker better than Double Bonus Poker?

Neither is better in a way the screens can show, because no source publishes a return figure for either. Double Double pays more for kicker quads and less for full houses, flushes and straights; Double Bonus pays more on those middle hands and has no kicker rows.

Does Double Double Bonus Poker count toward Springbok bonus wagering?

No. Video poker is absent from the games Springbok counts toward a rollover, and excluded-game bets placed before one is finished can void the bonus. Keep this machine for bonus-free play.
