Jacks-based video poker at Springbok
Bonus Poker at Springbok: four aces, an odd row and how to hold
Bonus Poker at Springbok is Jacks or Better with four of a kind paid by rank: four aces return 75 coins at 1 coin and four 2s, 3s or 4s return 40. A row labelled "4 Deuces w/Ace", which the help page lists as four 5s through Kings, returns 25, and a pair of Jacks or higher is the lowest paying hand.

Jacks or Better1 at 1 coin · 5 at 5 coins
One pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings or Aces. A pair of 10s or lower pays nothing.
- pays more than five times its 1-coin amount when all 5 coins are in play.
- † “4 Deuces w/Ace” is reproduced as the game labels it. This is the label the game screen shows, but deuces are not wild in Bonus Poker. The game's help page lists four 5s through Kings in this position, so treat the label as a display quirk and check the help page in the game menu.

How Bonus Poker plays at Springbok
The deal is the same five-card draw as Jacks or Better: set a coin value and 1 to 5 coins, take five cards from a natural deck, keep what you want and draw once. The hand selector offered a single hand per deal when this table was read, so Springbok's Bonus Poker is strictly single-hand play. Lobby reading · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)
What changes is the reward for four of a kind. Plain Jacks or Better pays every quad at one rate. This machine rewards the ranks at the two ends of the deck: Aces return the most, 2s, 3s and 4s come second, and the middle ranks take the base quad payout, which the game's help page describes as four 5s through Kings.
A winning hand can go straight to your balance or into the Double or Nothing round, where your pick has to beat the dealer's card to double the win and a lower card loses it. It is an extra all-or-nothing bet with its own rule, best decided before the session rather than after a big hand.

The four-of-a-kind ladder and the 4 Deuces w/Ace row
Four of a kind is paid on separate rows by rank, and they read best from the top:
- 4 Aces: 75 coins at 1 coin, 375 at 5 coins.
- 4 2s, 3s, or 4s: 40 at 1 coin, 200 at 5.
- "4 Deuces w/Ace": 25 at 1 coin, 125 at 5.
The third label does not fit the game. Deuces are not wild in Bonus Poker, and four 2s already have their own row just above. The game's help page lists four 5s through Kings in that position, which is also where the base quad payout sits on the published Bonus Poker tables. The pay table on this page keeps the label exactly as the screen shows it, with a note, and this page reads it as the 5s-through-Kings row only with that caveat. If it matters to your play, open the help page from the game menu and check it yourself.
Two more details stand out. Four aces return more than a straight flush here, 75 coins against 40, and the straight flush returns the same as four 2s, 3s or 4s. Set beside Springbok's own Jacks or Better, every row except the straight flush pays the same or more:
| Machine | Straight Flush | Four of a kind | 4 Aces | 4 2s, 3s, or 4s | Full House | Flush | Two Pair |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jacks or Better | 50 | 25 | not on this pay table | not on this pay table | 6 | 5 | 2 |
| Bonus Poker | 40 | not on this pay table | 75 | 40 | 8 | 5 | 2 |
| Bonus Poker Deluxe | 50 | 75 | not on this pay table | not on this pay table | 8 | 6 | 1 |
| Double Bonus Poker | 50 | not on this pay table | 160 | 80 | 10 | 7 | 1 |
Against the published Bonus Poker table that strategy guides usually work from, Springbok's version keeps the same full house (8) and flush (5) but trims two rare rows: that table returns 50 for a straight flush and 80 for four aces at 1 coin. What any of these differences is worth over many hands is not published for Springbok's machines, and this site does not estimate it. The pay tables guide explains why.
Holding notes for Bonus Poker
The Wizard of Odds publishes a detailed strategy for the Bonus Poker table described above, with a ranked list, exceptions and worked conflict hands. Springbok's straight flush and four-aces rows return a little less than that table, so the chart is a close guide rather than an exact fit. Applied hand after hand, it shaves the house edge; it never wipes it out.
Most of it reads like Jacks or Better, which makes this a gentle step up from the plain game:
- Dealt quads, straight flushes and royals stay as they are. Next is four to a royal, which outranks a dealt flush or straight.
- Two pair stays two pair. The chart keeps both pairs, even when three of the cards are also three to a royal.
- Three of a kind is held alone. Draw two cards; three aces get no kicker either.
- A high pair beats three to a royal, and three to a royal beats four to a flush.
- An unsuited King, Queen, Jack and 10 outrank a low pair. This is one of the places the detailed chart reads differently from the short Jacks list, as in the hand beside this section.
- With nothing made: the list works down through suited high cards, straight flush draws and unsuited groups of high cards. A lone Ace ranks above a lone King, Queen or Jack, and redrawing all five is the last line.
The exceptions on the source page mostly concern hands with two or three loose high cards and partial straight flush draws. They are worth reading once the main order is second nature, and they matter less than never breaking two pair or keeping a kicker. For how the families compare, see the strategy basics guide, and for the plain version of this game, Jacks or Better at Springbok.
Stakes and playing Bonus Poker on a phone
The royal is the only row on this table that grows faster than the bet: 250 coins at 1 coin, 4,000 at 5. Every other row, the four-aces line included, scales evenly with the coins. So the case for five coins rests on the royal alone, and a smaller coin value keeps that royal in reach for the same cost per hand as a single coin at a bigger value.
Bonus Poker plays in the mobile lobby: its table was read on the mobile client, and the desktop lobby showed a Flash-retirement notice on 9 October 2026 saying the video poker games remain available on mobile. Its Try It! mode lets you rehearse the holds with play credit first. Springbok says the practice credit is not replenished, so spend it learning the four-aces decisions rather than passing time. Questions players ask
What do four aces pay in Bonus Poker at Springbok?
75 coins at 1 coin and 375 at 5 coins, which is more than the straight flush returns on this machine.
Why does Springbok's Bonus Poker show a 4 Deuces w/Ace row?
That is the label on the game screen, but deuces are not wild in Bonus Poker. The help page lists four 5s through Kings in that position, returning 25 coins at 1 coin. Treat the label as a display quirk and check the help page in the game menu if in doubt.
How is Bonus Poker different from Bonus Poker Deluxe at Springbok?
Bonus Poker pays four of a kind by rank, with aces highest. Bonus Poker Deluxe pays every four of a kind the same, 75 coins at 1 coin, and its two pair returns only 1 coin against 2 here.
Does Bonus Poker count toward Springbok bonus wagering?
No. Springbok's terms list the games whose bets clear wagering, and video poker is not on it. Playing a game that does not count while a bonus is still being wagered can cost you the bonus and anything won with it, so play Bonus Poker with no active bonus.
Is Bonus Poker strategy the same as Jacks or Better strategy?
Close, but not identical. The published Bonus Poker chart keeps an unsuited King-Queen-Jack-10 over a low pair, for example, where the short Jacks or Better list keeps the pair.
