Double Jackpot Poker at Springbok: four aces, picture cards and the kicker

Double Jackpot Poker at Springbok is a single-hand Jacks or Better game that splits four of a kind into five separate awards, and for aces and picture cards the fifth card can push the pay up a row. Four aces with a King, Queen or Jack beside them pay 700 coins at 5 coins, against 350 for four aces with anything else.

Nothing is wild, a pair of Jacks is the smallest win, and a hand costs R0.05 to R25.00. Play it without a bonus: Springbok's wagering rules leave video poker out, so a bonus would only tie up the balance.

How Double Jackpot Poker plays at Springbok

Each round is one five-card hand. You set a coin value from R0.05 to R5.00, pick how many coins to play (up to 5) and deal. Tap the cards you want to keep so they show as held, then draw: every card you did not hold is swapped once, and the five you end with are settled against the table on screen. Lobby reading · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)

All the cards are natural and nothing pays below a pair of Jacks. Above that line the game parts ways with plain Jacks or Better: four of a kind is split five ways, by rank and, for aces and picture cards, by the fifth card in the hand, the kicker. Four 2s through 10s have no kicker row, so their fifth card never changes the pay.

The "Jackpot" in the name is part of the title, not a prize pool. Double Jackpot Poker is not among the 10 progressive games on Springbok's lobby list Verified · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source), and its biggest award is the fixed royal flush: 4,000 coins with all five coins in. Any win can also be staked once more on Double or Nothing: your card has to outrank the dealer's for the win to double, and a lower card wipes it out.

The four-of-a-kind ladder and the kicker rows

Five rows of the Double Jackpot table cover four of a kind. Read them as a ladder: the rank decides which rung you land on, and for the top ranks the right fifth card moves you up one.

Coins per coin at 1 coin. The pay-table viewer at the top of the page shows the 5-coin figures and the rand value at each coin size.

Two details are easy to miss. As displayed, four aces without a kicker and four picture cards with one pay the same, 70 coins per coin. And a King cannot be the kicker for four Kings, since all four are in the hand, so four Kings need an Ace, Queen or Jack beside them.

Below the ladder the table is familiar ground. Per coin, the full house is worth 8, the flush 5 and the straight 4; three of a kind returns 3, two pair 2 and Jacks or better 1. Only the royal flush grows faster than the stake, from 250 at 1 coin to 4,000 at 5, which is why that row carries the plus mark.

Double Jackpot vs Double Double Jackpot Poker

Springbok's lobby carries a close relative, Double Double Jackpot Poker, with the same five quad rows under the same labels. The two tables share a shape but not a balance.

The Double Double version pays more on every four-of-a-kind row and a little more on the full house, flush and straight. It gives that back by cutting two pair to 1 coin, the same as a pair of Jacks, and by flattening the ace kicker: as displayed, four aces pay the same there with or without a King, Queen or Jack. In Double Jackpot, two pair still pays 2 and the ace kicker still counts.

So the plain table puts more of its pay into two pair, a hand that comes round often, and the Double Double table more into four of a kind, which is rare. Neither game screen, neither help page and no Springbok page we read states a return figure for these two machines, and Pay Table Room does not estimate one.

How Springbok's table compares with the published one

Wizard of Odds, a long-running video poker reference, lists one table for this game, which it also calls Double Aces and Faces. Springbok's version keeps the same rows but pays less on four aces and on four picture cards; from four 2s-10s down, the two tables match.

Wizard of Odds figures as published on its Double Jackpot page. Its royal flush figure assumes the maximum bet, so that row is left out; the straight flush and every row below the full house are the same in both. Its return figures are not used here.

A smaller award on a rare hand is what players call a short pay: the machine looks and deals the same, and only the pay table shows the difference. The guide to video poker pay tables explained, row by row covers short pays in more detail.

Kicker holds and other notes for this table

Good holds do not make video poker pay; they only shrink the share of each stake the machine keeps. No published chart we found is written for Springbok's exact Double Jackpot table. The starting point is a published Jacks or Better order (the Wizard of Odds simple version), and each kicker decision below was worked out by running through all the possible draws on Springbok's own rows, once with the 1-coin column and once with the 5-coin column. Every decision listed came out the same both times.

  • Four aces or four picture cards without the right kicker: hold the four and draw one card. The hand cannot fall below the four of a kind you already have, and the new card may be the kicker that moves it up a row.
  • Three aces: hold the three alone, even with a King, Queen or Jack beside them. Drawing two cards gives the fourth ace two chances to arrive instead of one, and that is worth more than the kicker's extra pay on the rare hands where the ace lands.
  • A high pair with a picture-card kicker: hold the pair only. Keeping the kicker costs a card on the draw and comes out behind.
  • Two pair: keep both pairs. They already pay 2 per coin, and the one-card draw can still fill a full house.
  • Four to a royal flush outranks everything except a hand that is already a straight flush or a four of a kind, as on any Jacks or Better chart.

The video poker strategy basics guide sets out the Jacks or Better order in full.

Coin size, practice mode and phones

The betting grid is shared across Springbok's video poker, with coin values of R0.05, R0.25, R0.50, R1.00 and R5.00 and between 1 and 5 coins a hand. Every row except the royal flush pays the same multiple of the stake at any coin count, so the fifth coin only buys a bigger royal; the "Show pays as" menu at the top of the page puts that 5-coin royal in rand at your coin size.

Double Jackpot Poker was read on the mobile client. The desktop message about Flash being retired was recorded on 9 October 2026 for Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild only, so treat a phone as the way in. Each lobby tile also has a Try It! button for practice play, which started with R1,000.00 in fun money on the day the tables were read: a sensible place to watch the kicker rows work before real rand is involved. Springbok says that balance is a one-off that does not refill. Springbok's claim · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)

Cash hands still collect comp points at the rate in Springbok's terms, 1 comp point per R10 wagered and 100 points = R1 when redeemed Verified · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source). That is a small rebate on turnover, not a reason to add hands. A sister guide explains how Springbok comp points are earned and redeemed.

Double or Nothing turns a paid win into a single card flip. If you use it at all, settle the rule before the session, for example only on small wins, and never use it to win back a losing run.

How Double Jackpot Poker compares

Questions players ask

What is the kicker in Double Jackpot Poker?

The fifth card in a hand that already holds four aces or four Kings, Queens or Jacks. At Springbok, four aces with a King, Queen or Jack pay 140 coins per coin instead of 70, and four picture cards with an Ace, King, Queen or Jack pay 70 instead of 35. Four 2s to 10s have no kicker row.

Is Double Jackpot Poker a progressive jackpot game at Springbok?

No. The word is part of the title. The game is not on Springbok's lobby list of progressive games, and its top award is the fixed royal flush, 4,000 coins at 5 coins.

What is the difference between Double Jackpot and Double Double Jackpot Poker?

Both have five four-of-a-kind rows with kickers. At Springbok, Double Double Jackpot pays more on each of them and on the full house, flush and straight, but two pair drops to 1 coin and four aces pay the same with or without a kicker, as displayed.

Does Double Jackpot Poker count toward Springbok bonus wagering?

No. Springbok's terms name the games that clear wagering and video poker is missing from that list. Worse, under the same clause a hand dealt here before the playthrough is done can cancel the bonus and anything won with it, so deal Double Jackpot only when no bonus is running.
