Deuces wild video poker at Springbok
Deuces Wild at Springbok: four wild 2s and a table built around them
Deuces Wild at Springbok makes all four 2s wild, which pushes the first paying hand up to three of a kind and opens a row for five of a kind. A natural royal flush pays 4,000 coins at 5 coins, four deuces pay 1,000, and a hand costs R0.05 to R25.00.
Mobile · 18+ · no bonus needed
The rows match a table that video poker references call Illinois Deuces, so the best-known Deuces Wild charts need a couple of adjustments here. No bonus is needed to play.

How Deuces Wild plays at Springbok
The draw works as on every machine in the lobby: pick a coin value from R0.05 to R5.00 and up to 5 coins, deal five, hold what helps, draw once, and get paid on the final hand. The difference is that a 2 of any suit stands in for whichever card makes your hand best. Lobby reading · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)
With four wild cards in the deck, made hands come along far more easily than in Jacks or Better, and the pay table is set up to match. A pair pays nothing and neither does two pair; the first paying hand is three of a kind, at 1 coin per coin. In exchange, the top of the table holds rows a natural-card game cannot have: four deuces, a royal flush made with deuces, and five of a kind.
The natural royal flush, with no deuce in it, stays at the top, and only that row grows by more than five times when the fifth coin goes in. After any win the Double or Nothing round is on offer: pick a card, and it must be higher than the dealer's for the win to double.

The Deuces Wild pay table: what each row needs
- Royal Flush (250 per coin, 4,000 at 5 coins): 10 to Ace of one suit, with no deuce in it.
- 4 Deuces (200): all four 2s, whatever the fifth card is.
- Wild Royal w/2s (25): a royal flush completed by one or more deuces.
- Five of a kind (15): for example three 9s and two deuces.
- Straight Flush (9), Four of a kind (4) and Full House (4).
- Flush (3), Straight (2) and 3 of a kind (1).
As displayed, four of a kind and a full house pay the same on this machine. That pair of rows, together with the flush, is what separates Springbok's table from the "full pay" Deuces Wild table most strategy charts are written for.
| Machine | Royal Flush | 4 Deuces | Five of a kind | Straight Flush | Four of a kind | Full House | Flush | Straight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deuces Wild | 250 | 200 | 15 | 9 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 2 |
| Bonus Deuces Wild | 800 | 200 | not on this pay table | 8 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 1 |
| Loose Deuces | 300 | 500 | 15 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 2 |
Of the three deuces machines in the lobby, Loose Deuces puts far more on four deuces and less on the middle rows, and Bonus Deuces Wild splits five of a kind by rank. Deuces Wild is the plain one of the three.
Springbok's table against the published Deuces Wild tables
Wizard of Odds lists a long run of Deuces Wild pay tables. Springbok's rows match the one it calls Illinois Deuces, a table it notes is also known as Las Vegas Airport Deuces. The two tables most strategy charts refer to are shown next to Springbok's below.
| Row | Springbok, 1 coin | “Full pay” | “Not So Ugly Ducks” |
|---|---|---|---|
| Five of a kind | 15 | 15 | 16 |
| Straight flush | 9 | 9 | 10 |
| Four of a kind | 4 | 5 | 4 |
| Full house | 4 | 3 | 4 |
| Flush | 3 | 2 | 3 |
| Straight | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Published tables as listed by Wizard of Odds. The natural royal (at the maximum bet), four deuces, wild royal and three of a kind rows are the same in all three. Return figures on that page are not quoted here.
Two gaps matter. Against full pay, Springbok's table pays less for four of a kind but more for a full house and a flush. Against "Not So Ugly Ducks", it differs only on five of a kind and the straight flush, each a little lower here. That makes the Not So Ugly Ducks chart the closest published guide for this machine, and the full-pay chart the one to be careful with.
The wider idea behind full pay and short pay, and how to read the two coin columns, is covered in how video poker pay tables work.
How to hold deuces on Springbok's table
Holding well lowers the share of each stake the machine keeps; it does not make Deuces Wild pay out over time. The published chart nearest to Springbok's table is the Wizard of Odds "Not So Ugly Ducks" strategy, which sorts every decision by the number of deuces dealt. Each point below was also checked against Springbok's own rows by counting every possible draw, at 1 coin and at 5 coins.
Start by counting your deuces
- Four deuces: keep them. The award is already settled.
- Three deuces: keep a made wild royal or five of a kind; anything else, keep the three deuces alone and draw two.
- Two deuces: keep a made four of a kind or better (drawing one card to a four of a kind), or four to a royal. Two suited cards that sit next to each other (4 and 5 or higher) or one rank apart (5 and 7 or higher), such as 7 and 8 or 7 and 9, also make a four-card straight flush draw worth keeping. Lower than that, a 3 and 4 or a 4 and 6 for instance, or with the suited cards further apart, go back to the two deuces alone.
- One deuce: a deuce with three suited cards in a tight run, such as 7, 8 and 9 or 6, 8 and 9, is worth more than a deuce with a pair, even though the pair is already a paying three of a kind. Spread the run wider (5, 7 and 9) and the three of a kind wins. With nothing else to go on, keep the deuce alone.
- No deuces: made straights and better, four to a royal and four to a straight flush come first, then the two changes below.
Where Springbok's table changes full-pay advice
- Two pair, no deuces: keep both pairs. The Wizard of Odds full-pay chart keeps a single pair, because a full house pays little there. With a full house at 4 per coin, holding both pairs comes out ahead on Springbok's table.
- Four to a flush beats a single pair. With a flush at 3, the four-card flush draw is worth more than a lone pair, the reverse of the full-pay order.
- Straight flush or royal draw? It depends on the coins in play. At 5 coins, with the natural royal on 4,000, break the straight flush and draw one card at the royal. At 1 coin the royal pays 250 and keeping the straight flush is the better hold.
- Never throw a deuce away. Neither published chart cited here ever discards one, and no hold checked on Springbok's table did either.

Stakes, phones and practice play
Coins come in R0.05, R0.25, R0.50, R1.00 and R5.00 sizes and you can play up to 5 of them per deal. Four deuces, which lands far more often than a natural royal, pays the same per coin whether you bet one coin or five, and so does every row below it. The fifth coin buys a bigger royal and nothing else, which is also why the straight flush hold above changes with your coin count. If you want that larger royal on a small budget, a low coin value with all five coins in gets it; a high coin value with one coin does not.
Deuces Wild was one of the two games where the desktop notice was seen on 9 October 2026: a desktop browser got the lobby's message that, with Flash retired, the game continues to be available on mobile. The mobile version is the one that runs, and it is where the pay table on this page was read. Try It! on the tile opens practice play (a R1,000.00 float at the time), a good way to rehearse the deuce counts above before real money is in play; Springbok says the float is a one-off. Wild cards make small wins frequent, and Double or Nothing is offered after each one. Taking it every time turns a run of three-of-a-kinds into a run of coin flips. Decide beforehand whether you will use it.

Questions players ask
What is the lowest winning hand in Deuces Wild at Springbok?
Three of a kind, paying 1 coin per coin. A pair or two pair pays nothing, because all four 2s are wild.
What is the difference between a natural royal and a wild royal?
A natural royal flush uses no deuces and pays 4,000 coins at 5 coins at Springbok. A wild royal, shown as 'Wild Royal w/2s', needs at least one deuce and pays 125 coins at 5 coins.
Which Deuces Wild strategy chart fits Springbok's table?
Its rows match the table Wizard of Odds calls Illinois Deuces. The closest published chart is the 'Not So Ugly Ducks' one, which differs only on five of a kind and the straight flush. A full-pay chart gets two pair and four-to-a-flush hands wrong for this table.
Why won't Deuces Wild open on my computer?
On 9 October 2026 the desktop lobby showed a notice that the game's Flash version has been retired and that it continues on mobile. Open it on a phone instead.
Does Deuces Wild count toward Springbok bonus wagering?
No. The wagering clause in Springbok's terms lists slots and a handful of other games, not video poker, and stakes on excluded games during an unfinished bonus can void it. Deal Deuces Wild with no bonus running.
