Bonus Deuces Wild at Springbok: fives by rank and an ace beside four deuces
Bonus Deuces Wild at Springbok is a deuces wild machine that pays each five of a kind by rank and adds an ace kicker to four deuces. With one coin in, five aces pay 80, four deuces with an ace 250 and a natural royal 800, the biggest single-coin royal among the lobby's three deuces games. Nothing below Three of a kind pays, and each hand costs between R0.05 and R25.00.

Three cards of the same rank.
- Here the natural Royal Flush pays exactly five times its 1-coin amount at 5 coins, so the fifth coin adds no extra royal award on this machine.
- This table was not re-read at a second coin value. On the 12 titles that were read at both R0.05 and R5.00 a coin, the table did not change.

How Bonus Deuces Wild plays at Springbok
Set a coin value between R0.05 and R5.00, choose 1 to 5 coins, and five cards arrive. Every 2 in the deck is wild, so a deuce turns into whichever card finishes your best hand. Mark the cards worth keeping, the rest are replaced in a single draw, and the final five are paid from the table. One hand is dealt per round. Lobby reading · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)
Four wild cards push the bottom of the table up. A pair, or even two pair, returns nothing, and Three of a kind only hands your stake back. The straight is just as thin on this machine: it returns 1 coin per coin, the same as three of a kind. The first rows that leave you ahead on a hand are the flush, the full house and four of a kind.
Any win can be carried into Double or Nothing, an all-or-nothing call against the dealer's card that has no link to this table. Settle before the session whether you will ever press it.

Five aces, the ace kicker and the rest of the pay table
The top half of this table is where the game earns its name. Plain deuces games pay one rate for every five of a kind; this one splits them by the rank of the natural cards:
- 5 Aces: 80 coins at 1 coin, 400 at 5 coins.
- Five 3s, 4s or 5s: 40 at 1 coin, 200 at 5.
- Five 6s through Kings: 20 at 1 coin, 100 at 5.
Four deuces get the same treatment. All four 2s with any fifth card return 200 coins at 1 coin; with an ace as the fifth card the hand moves up to the "4 Deuces w/Ace" row and returns 250. Only the natural royal pays more.
Read the screen from the top and one row looks out of place. The wild royal, a royal flush that needs at least one deuce, is printed above the five-of-a-kind rows but returns only 25 coins at 1 coin, less than five aces and less than five 3s, 4s or 5s. Lower down, four of a kind and a full house both return 4.
Beside the lobby's other two deuces machines, the cost of those extra rows shows up near the bottom:
| Machine | Straight Flush | Four of a kind | Full House | Flush | Straight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deuces Wild | 9 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 2 |
| Bonus Deuces Wild | 8 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 1 |
| Loose Deuces | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 2 |
Against Springbok's plain Deuces Wild, it gives up a little on the straight flush and the straight; Loose Deuces piles its extra onto four deuces instead.
Bonus Deuces Wild against the published tables
The Wizard of Odds prints fourteen Bonus Deuces pay tables, and one of them lines up with Springbok's machine per coin bet on every row but one. That version also pays 8 for a straight flush, and its natural royal, wild royal, five-of-a-kind rows and everything below them match too. The odd row out is four deuces with an ace: all fourteen tables on that page pay 400 per coin for it, while Springbok's screen shows 250 at 1 coin and 1,250 at 5 coins.
The hand is rare, so the gap will not show in an evening's play, but it is a trimmed row next to every version on that list. Its long-run cost on Springbok's game is not published, and this site does not work it out.
The coin columns are unusual as well. Every other machine in the room pays at least one top hand more than five times its 1-coin figure once the fifth coin is in. Here each row, the natural royal included, is multiplied by exactly five, so the coin count changes the size of the bet and nothing else. One caveat: this table was read at a single coin value, so its 5-coin column is unconfirmed at the cheapest and dearest coin settings. The guide to how video poker pay tables work explains why the 5-coin royal usually matters.
Holding notes for Bonus Deuces Wild
No free strategy chart for Bonus Deuces Wild turned up in the sources we checked. The full-pay Deuces Wild chart from the Wizard of Odds is still a useful frame, because it sorts every deal by the number of deuces you hold, and that habit carries across. Its finer lines do not, since five of a kind, four deuces and the straight all pay differently here.
So the notes below were worked out for this machine directly. Each pair of holds was compared by counting every possible draw against Springbok's own rows, at 1 coin and at 5 coins, and both gave the same answer. They trim the house edge on the hands they cover; they do not remove it.
- Three deuces and an ace: keep the ace with the deuces. It is the one card that can lift four deuces into the ace-kicker row, and it also points towards five aces.
- Three deuces in a dealt wild royal: keep the wild royal. On this table it comes out well ahead of three deuces on their own.
- Two deuces and an ace: keeping the ace edges ahead of the two deuces alone, by a small margin.
- One deuce and an ace: keep the deuce by itself. With a single wild card, the ace costs more than it adds.
- A dealt straight that is also four to a straight flush: break the straight. It only returns your stake here, so the one-card draw is worth more, with or without a deuce in the hand.
- Two pair, no deuces: keep both pairs and draw one card for the full house. This breaks the usual deuces habit of keeping a single pair, because a full house returns 4 per coin on this table.
- A low pair against four to a flush, no deuces: the four-card flush draw comes out ahead.
The straight case looks like this, with the deuce standing in for the missing card:
Held22Held55Held66Held7788Keeping the deuce and the three hearts gives up a straight that only returns your bet, for one card that can bring a straight flush, a flush, the straight again or three of a kind. The deuce-counting order these notes start from is in video poker strategy basics.
Stakes, practice and where it plays
With no row growing faster than the bet, choose coins and coin value purely by what your budget will carry: one coin at a higher value pays the same per rand staked as five coins at a lower one, which holds on no other machine in Springbok's video poker room.
Bonus Deuces Wild was read on the mobile client. The Flash-retirement notice a desktop browser brought up on 9 October 2026 was recorded for plain Deuces Wild and Jacks or Better; no desktop result is recorded for this one, so use a phone. The Try It! button loads a practice session, which started with R1,000.00 on the day of the reading, so the ace-kicker holds above can be rehearsed first. Springbok describes that balance as a one-off rather than one that refills. Springbok's claim · 9 Oct 2026 (opens the source)
Fives of a kind and four deuces are rare, and three of a kind or a straight only gives back what you bet, so long flat stretches are what this machine usually looks like. Questions players ask
What does four deuces with an ace pay in Bonus Deuces Wild at Springbok?
250 coins at 1 coin and 1,250 at 5 coins, against 200 and 1,000 for four deuces with any other fifth card. Every Bonus Deuces table printed by the Wizard of Odds pays 400 per coin for this hand, so Springbok's row is lower.
Does a wild royal pay more than five aces in Springbok's Bonus Deuces Wild?
No. The wild royal returns 25 coins at 1 coin, while five aces return 80 and five 3s, 4s or 5s return 40. The wild royal is printed higher on the screen, but it pays less.
Is it worth playing five coins on Bonus Deuces Wild?
On Springbok's table every row returns exactly five times as much at 5 coins as at 1 coin, the natural royal included, so extra coins raise the stake without adding a royal bonus. The table was read at one coin value only.
Does Bonus Deuces Wild count toward Springbok bonus wagering?
It doesn't. Springbok's T&Cs name the games that clear a bonus and video poker is not one of them; betting on it with wagering still open can forfeit the bonus and anything it has won. Use a balance with no bonus attached.
What is the RTP of Bonus Deuces Wild at Springbok?
It is not published. The game screen, its help page and Springbok's own pages give no return figure, and this site does not estimate one.
